Do any of you remember the old icebox. We thought it was a wonderful invention and loved seeing the ice man come to bring that block of ice. Our mother would sometimes chip pieces of it off for us to eat during the summer when it was really hot. I wish I still had the old icebox.

I don't really remember this. Maybe we didn't have them in the UK. I do remember my mum buying bags of ice  and storing thing in the pantry in a bucket of ice. The pantry was always the coldest place in the house.

We had an old icebox that ice went in. I loved it. It was always so cold. We also had a smokehouse that held the meats and would leave things that could be frozen outside. We couldn't do that now though, the temperature in the winter varies too much.
