Do you remember when radio first came into your community? We used to go to a neighbors house and listen every Saturday night. It was a community party when we went. Our mother's would bring food and plates and such and we would all have a wonderful time listening to the program. Do you remember it?

I can't say that I remember that, but it does remind me of a recording I used to have. It included a radio promo for "V Discs" if I remember the term correctly. I think the V stood for victory for the allied war effort and I think the campaign was tied into war bonds.

I heard a recording of Fats Waller endorsing the products.

Does that ring a bell with anyone?

It might seem weird to long for a time period I don't even remember, but I so wish I had been alive to be a part of 1940s radio. It seems like such simple entertainment now but I love the idea of using my imagination to see a story or program unfold.
