What were the usual leisure and recreational activities in the 1940's? I have a strong feeling that going to the dance was a favorite activity and that families gathering around the radio to listen to their favorite program was a common scene.

There was a lot of playing board and card games as I recall and, yes, also listening to plays or music shows on the radio, which we called the "wireless" though it wasn't!Smile

Haha…The leisure activities then looked simple compared to the video arcades and the state-of-the-art theme parks that we enjoy now, but I think the board games and the radio shows of the past were great at strenghtening the family bond.
