Do you remember when men's white dinner jackets came into fashion. They were mostly used in the areas where you could get a tan and that's why they became so popular. Showing off that tan became fashionable in the 40's. :)

White dinner jackets were like the perfect thing to wear on formal events or social functions, especially in warm climates. Worn with black bow ties, white dinner jackets gave a very elegant look.

I loved the look and when I was a kid, I always wanted a white tux. Unfortunately, my life took a different direction and I never got to have that white dinner jacket. I had a Marine uniform instead and I have to say, I looked pretty good in it. :D

I'll bet you did too! I loved seeing my dad in his naval uniform and even now I get a buzz out of seeing photos of my husband ( who is ex RAF) in his uniform. I don't think the white dinner jacket holds a candle to the military uniform.

You're correct there in my opinion. Those uniforms were sharp! We had to keep them in tip top condition too. We had to spit shine our shoes to make sure you could see your face in them.

Thanks for the reminder Memories!  One of my favorite pictures were of my Mom and Dad when they were dating in the 1940's.  They were dressed up to go somewhere, and my Dad was in his Army uniform.  They made quite a couple!  Dress Uniform or White Dinner Jackets, there was quite a fashion statement about that period.  Always classic and never out of style!
