I love the look of both men's and women's shose back in the 40s! There is a great little retro shop that just got some shoes in and I am considering heading over there to snag up a pair!

What a great shop!  It would be wonderful if they had some of the fashion dresses there too!  You won't be sorry if you are able to find a pair of shoes.  The style of shoes from that time were all very becoming.  I especially liked the ankle strap shoes.  Not sure if they called these baby dolls, but it had a wide rounded toe, looked almost like a pump, but had an ankle strap.  They really knew style and fit at that time!Smile

They have a couple of dresses too. I only have enough for the shoes budgeted right now. Hopefully I can go back and get a dress to go with them with my next check. Then I could really get my retro groove on!

Yeah, they were built to last. The only thing is, we didn't have shoes until the wintertime and then we usually got hand me downs. We always wore something until we wore it out and then we used it for something else. Can you imagine having shoes resoled today? There aren't many cobblers around these days.

I can remember the school shoes we had and they were black, ugly lace ups that I hated. They lasted ages because they could be soled and heeled and often got too tight before they were replaced!
