OfflineIt would be interesting to know what everyone thinks of the hairstyles of the 40's. I've been looking at some images and I see a lot of curls and rolls. The 'Victory Rolls' were very common among the ladies. Hair on each side is rolled up so that both rolls meet on top of the head. I think the hairstyles of the 1940's had a very neat and feminine look.

OfflineI agree…1940's hairstyles always looked so polished and classy, yet somehow they seemed so effortless, too. Personally, I don't think today's hairstyles lend themselves to a fashionable look at all, and I prefer to see a man with very clean and well-groomed hair. As for us ladies, it's easy to acheive that '40's elegance with a bit of setting lotion and curlers or hot rollers. You can either wear your style up in those more structured "victory rolls", or down in a cascading style à la Veronica Lake. For a bit of natural elegance (and with summer just around the corner!), pin your hair up on one side and attach a flower.
